Latest Thunderbird email program – version 24 – has problems with extensions preventing the folder highlighting from working correctly.

Several bug reports (and more!) have now been made on bugzilla.mozilla.org.
It seems that the problem is with several extensions, these ones have been mentioned. Just disable the problem extensions in the addons tab and restart and your TB24 should be fixed working properly.
If you have this problem – folders aren’t highlighted that have new messages – but don’t have any of those extensions listed then try “Help> Restart with Add-ons Disabled..” in the Thunderbird menu and see if the folder highlighting is fixed, if it is then you’ll have to manually go through and try disabling extensions until you find the one that’s messing it up.

If you know of any other extensions causing problems in TB24 then please feel free to comment. Thanks.
[FYI on this computer I’m using Thunderbird 24.0 on Kubuntu 13.04 with KDE 4.11.1]
