UNFINISHED – Following from past install of Safari 4 I’m attempting to get Safari 5 to install on Kubuntu 12.10 linux distro using WINE.

Safari 5 from Apple Computers installs under WINE and runs without anything out of the ordinary being done. Sadly hardly anything in the application works once it is installed!

Fix broken Safari 5 under WINE

First up I attempted to follow the previous fixes that hard worked in the past on earlier Ubuntu, with earlier WINE and Safari 4: Install corefonts and flash using WINEtricks; use native iphlpapi.dll instead of one provided by WINE.

I’ll let you know how that goes when I finish …

Here I am not using WINE set for WinXP so it appears that iphlpapi.dll isn’t used [spoke too soon], I’ve got Safari set to use MS Windows 7 configuration options.

Running Safari from console still doesn’t help, output:
