A simple list of 10 online photoshop style image editing applications with screenshots and links to the free or trial versions. There are fully featured applications: Photoshop.com, Aviary (who also have other editors for vector art, soundfiles, etc.), Sumopaint, splashup, pixlr, 72photos and simpler touchup style tools: FotoFlexer, pixer.us, PicMagick, Picnik.
Yes all these apps are free to use to edit your photographs online for free. Only 72photos fails to provide a demo area or basic unregistered account for you to try out their tools. Here are the screen caps for your consideration:

Well I’d say try them, it only takes a few clicks (well 10) to open all the links and have a look. In my brief overview though I’d say pixer.us seems the least featureful. The Photoshop-alikes are all, well, like photoshop if you’re after that sort of thing then you’ll probably need an extended test – some appear to need a lot more local resources (bandwidth, processing) than others but may (like Splashup’s capture from webcam feature) offer the tool you need. If you’re wanting to do lolcats or simple clipart-y alterations then Picnik does look pretty awesome and is probably my pick as I’d be most likely to do full editing off-line.
Please let me know if your choice is missing from the list.
Note that the images used within the apps screen caps are either those provided by the app themselves or in a couple of cases a free CC image by Hamed Saber has been used.
